Yoga Teacher Training
“What we learn with pleasure we never forget.” -Alfred Mercier
A Path of Self-Inquiry
The primary reason students attend our training program is to deepen their own understanding of themselves through Transformation.
200hr Registered Yoga Teacher Training
The richness of learning through the Jane’s House Studio 200hr program, comes from the joy and lightness that balances the depth and intensity of the Ancient Yoga Tradition.
It is our desire to share the teachings and cultivate an environment where each student can awaken to a belief in themselves and inspire curiosity and a willingness to discover knowledge from within.
Inspired by Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, our approach to practice is with steadiness and ease, versus straining, struggling, and shutting down the body, mind and energy. The way we practice and teach, removes striving and performance and welcomes you inward to restore and recapture the peace which is your essential nature. This approach creates strength at every level and supports integration, balance, and joy. As these attitudes become grounded in you through your practice, you not only create a new, positive habit, you literally change your body, nervous system, and brain and discover a newly emerging you, who is increasingly strong, balanced and naturally more at ease.
Foundational Training
Jane’s House 200 hour Teacher Training is the foundational training for aspiring Yoga Teachers as well as a deeply enriched experience for serious students who have a desire for a greater understanding of the 8-limbed path of Yoga. The program is designed to give teachers the necessary knowledge, experience, and technical tools to teach a yoga practice that meets the demands of today's practitioners.
We teach you what is foundational to all of the styles of yoga you may encounter or have an interest in teaching, which means a thorough grounding in the five techniques of Hatha Yoga: stillness (asana), rhythm (vinyasa), breath (pranayama), integration (bandha) and presence (drushti). You will learn how to arrange them and establish a dominant focus which moves them into the direction of "styles" like restorative, vinyasa flow or alignment-based practice.
You will learn how to language and sequence these techniques through experience and understand through continuous creativity on your part. Most importantly students are taught that Yoga is practiced as self - inquiry, and surrender.
The training is structured around several key elements:
Technical training (particularly in posture practice, core actions, sequencing -vinyasa karma, pranayama and meditation).
History and philosophy (particularly with reference to the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali and the Baghavad Gita).
Anatomy and physiology as applied to the practice.
Training Year
A total of seven modules will be conducted within seven months. These courses form the base hours of the mandatory core curriculum of the Basic RYT teacher requirements. In addition, hours are completed through class observation, practice, teaching a minimum of one community yoga class and home-study. There is also a required reading list of books that must be completed prior to certification.
To be recommended to the Yoga Alliance as a yoga teacher certified by Jane's House Studio, it is necessary to attend all of the training intensives, complete 200 hours, pass a comprehensive final examination, meet the financial obligation and must, in the opinion of the teacher training instructors, be able to competently and compassionately teach a basic yoga class.
While there is no time limitation for the completion of Yoga teacher training, the trainee is expected to attend training sessions on a regular basis, and it is suggested that the training be completed within a year. If the teacher trainee does not attend training sessions for a period of one year, his or her application will be considered dormant, and he or she will have to reapply for the program.
Each teacher training attendee receives a beautifully produced manual containing illustrations and professionally photographed asanas.
