AWAKEN: A 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training & Retreat in the Beautiful U.S. Virgin Islands

We care about your training and development! This teacher training and retreat is the Jane’s House of Well-Being 200 Hour Training Curriculum. Jane’s House has been training excellent Whole Yoga Teachers for over a decade.

We do not create cookie cutter yoga “instructors”. Through this training, we will give you the opportunity to become a Whole Yoga Teacher. As a Whole Yoga Teacher you will learn to design intelligent yoga asana (posture) sequences that are physically stimulating and challenging, while remaining safe and restorative to the human body and its inherent design, while also gaining an understanding the philosophy of the 8-Limbed Path of Yoga and a framework for the teachings. You will further be given the opportunity for deep personal transformation and self-inquiry. As a Whole Yoga Teacher you will be a light in the world, able to guide others towards knowing themselves as the True Beauty and Divine Light that they are.

Join us in the beautiful U.S. Virgin Islands for an immersion experience into the study and practice of Yoga.

BECOME A WHOLE YOGA TEACHER

This training is based on the Jane’s House of Well-Being’s 200 Hour Teacher Training Program, which is designed to give aspiring teachers the necessary knowledge, experience and technical tools to teach a yoga practice that meets the multifaceted demands of today’s practitioners. The Jane’s House program is directed by Robin Buck.

In 2005, Jane’s House became an affiliate training school to Matthew and Holly Krepps’ Circle Yoga Shala Teacher Training Program, being one of the first registered schools in the St. Louis, Missouri region. Robin and Laura are dedicated students of Matthew and are privileged to carry on this gift of training teachers using the curriculum that has been refined for years and from the lineage of Matthew’s teacher, Godfrey Devereux.

We do not create cookie cutter yoga “instructors”. Through this training, we will give you the opportunity to become a Whole Yoga Teacher. As a Whole Yoga Teacher you will learn to design intelligent yoga asana (posture) classes that are physically stimulating and challenging, while remaining safe and restorative to the human body and its inherent design, while also gaining an understanding the philosophy of the 8-Limbed Path of Yoga and a framework for the teachings. You will further be given the opportunity for deep personal transformation and self-inquiry. As a Whole Yoga Teacher you will be a light in the world, able to guide others towards knowing themselves as the True Beauty and Divine Light that they are.

What you will receive and learn:

- Authentic Leadership as a Teacher of Yoga: We will examine beliefs around what it means to “show up as a teacher” and will learn the underlying essence of how to show up as an authentic teacher. This will be done within the framework of the first two limbs of the eight-limbed path- the Yamas and Niymas, as well as Self-Inquiry and Self-Observation.

- Effective Teaching Language and Guiding Students Inward: Learn to guide students inward so that they have a felt sense of themselves, rather than being guided into the external environment by learning to teach using direct action language.

- The Art of Designing Intelligent, Creative and Beautiful Asana Sequences: You will learn to understand the body through joint actions so that you can prepare the students for a particular direction in class, such as hip opening, back bends, and twists. You will learn principles that will allow you to intelligently and creatively design unlimited asana sequences based upon the understanding of Vinyasa Krama.

- The Skills Necessary to Teach General Populations of Students as well as those who might Need More Support: You will graduate from this training with the ability to safely and effectively teach general populations of students but also with enough knowledge to know how to handle those students who might need modification or more support.

- How to teach Pranayama Techniques: Pranayama (control or restraint of the breath) is the fourth limb of the eight-limbed path. You will learn the importance of the breath in practice and will learn to teach several Pranayama techniques that can be incorporated into classes or working with individuals.

- How to teach Meditation: Meditation (Dhyana) is the seventh limb on the eight-limbed path. You will learn what meditation is, the process of meditation and how to teach several meditation techniques in group classes or with individuals.

-Foundational Yoga Philosophy from the Eight-Limbed Path: Our program follows Patanjali's guide of the eight-limbed path of raja yoga. We will delve into philosophy and understanding of the four outer limbs of the raja yoga path- Yamas: "Restraints or Moral Guidelines" Niyama: "Observances or Practices that support spiritual growth" Asana: "Postures or balanced state of being" and Pranayama: "Breath or restraining and mastering life force energy". We will also delve into the four inner limbs- Pratayahara: "Sense Withdrawal" Dharana: "Concentration" Dhyana: "Meditation" and Samadhi: "Sameness, contemplation/realization".

-Ongoing Support to Help You Grow: You will receive ongoing support and feedback from Robin, Laura and other senior Jane’s House teachers throughout this training and thereafter. Community and mentorship are key to the success of the Jane’s House program

-A Satsang/Community of Teachers: Once you train with us, you become part of the Jane’s House family, a community of teachers around the world dedicated to Self-Inquiry and continued learning, expansion and growth. Maintaining a connection with like-minded individuals is a powerful part of the spiritual path.

-Future Learning Opportunities: A key to Jane’s House dedication to excellence is the opportunity for continued learning, expansion and growth. You will be informed of further training and retreat opportunities to deepen and enhance your skills. You will also be given the opportunity to sit in on future trainings that you have already completed at no cost to assist in deepening your understanding of material.

-A Beautifully and Consciously Produced 100 Page Teaching Training Manual: You will provided with a manual covering all topics of the training and including beautifully photographed asanas.

Successful completion of all immersions, completion of required homework assignments, and successful test-out will gain you a completion certificate and eligibility as a member with the National Yoga Alliance.
